Wishlist Member ReviewThe following article is a Wishlist Member Review and additional information on setting up your own profitable membership site with Wordpress and the Wishlist Membership Plugin. When I finally decided to buy the Wishlist Member plugin, I spent more than an hour watching the free membership site videos on the wishlist member website. Those guys do one of the best jobs I have ever seen at demonstrating to you what their product does. WP Wishlist Member does have a 30 day money back guarantee, but I would be surprised if anyone ever uses it because it is an excellent product and because they use video to do such a good job of educating a you in advance of the purchase. So do I like the wordpress membership plugin itself? You should first know a little bit of history of what I am comparing it to.
Free Membership Site Videos
I started my first membership site initially with Moodle, an open source course management system. Moodle is a nice eLearning tool that is used by individuals and big universities alike. However, I soon became overwhelmed with trying to customize the software and deactivate what turned out to be way too many features. I was spending far too much time with the membership site software and not making any money. So then I switched my membership site to Ning. Ning is a nice free community site and I was happy to pay a small amount to take the Google adwords off of the membership site. Ning has a great online community layout but I was not developing a domain I own and I got frustrated because I could not easily structure and host course oriented information in a professional and easy to follow way. Then I changed to Drupal. Drupal is another open source community and publishing platform and I do think Drupal could have worked well, but I was forced to start learning a new technology, which I did not want to invest more time into. Then I gave Litmos a try. Litmos is really great and I liked the simplicity but I found it very expensive as I would be paying a fee per person per month - and that fee would add a much higher cost to running the membership site and would hurt the profitability. It actually took me a full six months to realize that the best membership site software was right under my nose. My best option would be to use what I was already comfortable with - Wordpress. So I started using the free membership site wordpress plugin but it was not easy. I had to manually add and remove people from the site. Finally I found WP Wishlist Member and nearly all my membership site management issues went away. I can now launch the technology to do a membership site in less than an hour and focus on other important things such as writing content and marketing the membership site. WP Wishlist Member is the best software investment I have made in a long time. I integrated it with my 1ShoppingCart account and the entire thing runs so smoothly that I tend to think of the membership site as free money. Other than keeping the content fresh and answering the occasional question, the membership site is on autopilot.
